In Canada, this is called linocut printing. I learned it there in my third year high school. Apparently, according to Nemcy, this was taught in UP Fine Arts as RUBBER cut printing. No, I wasn't able to get that professor, sadly. But anyway, whatever it is called, I still call it "My Me Time Away From the Computer Which is Good" process.
So far, I've made about 4 plates in two weeks. Today was the day I make my first print this year. I call this plate "Ngor...ngor...ngor..." I learned this as I sat as a thesis panelist for Zarah Eder's defense. This "Ngor...ngor...ngor..." is the invocation of some Mangyan groups in Mindoro to appease the bad spirits.
I already hoarded from my favorite art shop several rubber plates. And will carve and carve and print and print and smile and smile....
just a small dab of ink is enough
spread the ink on a plate first
